HISTORY OF THE NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL ASSOCIATION
Teamsters:

After a long search and several meetings with several different unions the NHPA Board of Directors decided that the best choice for the overall needs of the NHPA was the International Brotherhood Of Teamsters Local 14 in Las Vegas. The choice was made largely due to the fact that Local 14 represented public employees in North Las Vegas, Henderson and other city and county employees throughout southern Nevada. Local 14 also had some of the best contracts in the entire state and had a strong reputation of representing it’s members. The other reason the board chose local 14 was it had it’s own health plan in place which NHPA members could participate in, once approved by the PEBP Board. After a vote of the members to affiliate with Teamsters 14, NHPA President Stewart Handte signed the affiliation agreement on the first day of November 2001. Gary Mauger Secretary-Treasure and CEO of Local 14 signed on behalf of the Teamsters.
