HISTORY OF THE NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL ASSOCIATION
1984: NTC

In 1984, under the direction of NHPA President Tom Hammill, the NHPA officially joined the National Trooper Collation [NTC] to give the NHPA some national recognition and to support the NTC on national police issues in Washington DC. In 1985 the IRS was attempting to tax government employees who were issued government vehicles. This became a national issue to law-enforcement officers and particular concern to the troopers of the Nevada Highway Patrol. Hammill played a major role in the exemption of police officers to the vehicle use tax rule.
